An American Salute: Rhapsody in Blue - CHORAL BALCONY SEATING ONLY

Description

Due to popular demand, Choral Balcony seats are now available for American Salute: Rhapsody in Blue with pianist Michelle Cann, conductor Christopher Bell and the Grant Park Orchestra. Widely acknowledged to be one of the most spectacular vistas in the city, the Choral Balcony puts you in the middle of the music to witness the magic first-hand as world-class artists come together for George Gershwin’s irresistible classic alongside other patriotic favorites.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO LATE SEATING IN THE CHORAL BALCONY
Michelle Cann returns to the Grant Park Orchestra after a dazzling debut in 2022. This time she plays George Gershwin's irresistible mashup of classical and jazz, Rhapsody in Blue. The concert includes Aaron Copland's timeless Variations on a Shaker Theme, and a piece inspired by Aaron Copland, the Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Joan Tower. Also, a tribute to the Windy City by New Orleans native Edmond Dédé and Sousa's perennial favorite Stars and Stripes Forever.

Joan Tower: Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman
Aaron Copland: Variations on a Shaker Theme
Morton Gould: American Salute
Edmond Dédé: Chicago: Grande valse à l'Américaine
George Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue
Leonard Bernstein: Symphonic Dances from West Side Story
arr. Carmen Dragon: America the Beautiful
John Philip Sousa: Stars and Stripes Forever
